smartIT is seeking an experienced and highly technical Level 3 Support Technician – MSP to join our growing team. This is a key leadership position where you will serve as both a technical lead and mentor within the organization, overseeing critical escalations, driving ITIL best practices, and managing client implementations. As a Level 3 Support Technician, you will act as the highest point of escalation for our Helpdesk and Systems team, while also taking ownership of strategic initiatives that will improve service delivery and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
Technical Escalation & SME Leadership: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for high-level technical escalations, providing expert-level support and solutions for complex IT issues. You will serve as the go-to technical authority for internal teams and clients, ensuring rapid and effective resolution of all critical incidents.
Client and Technical Support: Serve as the escalation point of contact for clients, managing escalations, and ensuring the successful resolution of complex technical issues. Provide on-site, remote, and virtual support for clients, guiding them through their most pressing technical challenges with tailored solutions.
ITIL Framework Implementation: Spearhead the adoption and execution of the ITIL framework across the IT organization, ensuring robust incident, problem, and change management processes are followed. Continuously optimize service delivery, adhering to ITIL best practices to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Client Engagement: Conduct regular client calls, virtual meetings, and on-site visits, acting as the technical lead to understand client needs and develop tailored IT solutions. Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations that showcase how smartIT’s offerings meet client requirements and solve business challenges.
New Client Onboarding & IT Analysis: Lead the IT analysis and design phase for new clients, identifying their technical requirements and ensuring a smooth onboarding process. Implement and oversee the successful migration and integration of new clients into smartIT’s infrastructure.
Helpdesk and Systems Leadership: Oversee the Helpdesk and Systems Administration teams, ensuring high-level service delivery. Provide technical mentorship and hands-on support, addressing issues ranging from basic password resets to complex network configurations and installations.
Project Management & Execution: Independently lead IT projects, including client migrations, network design, security implementations, and system upgrades. Take ownership of the entire project lifecycle, from planning to execution, ensuring successful outcomes without the need for management oversight.
Process & Efficiency Improvement: Develop and implement strategic initiatives to streamline Helpdesk operations, optimize performance metrics, and enhance client satisfaction. Continuously monitor performance and suggest technical improvements to increase operational efficiency.
Training and Mentorship: Provide technical training and serve as a mentor to junior engineers and Helpdesk staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning. Encourage best practices in troubleshooting, service delivery, and client interaction.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment, with a proven track record of leading IT projects and delivering client solutions.
Technical Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate technical teams. Demonstrated success in driving ITIL processes and service management improvements.
Subject Matter Expertise: Deep technical proficiency in areas such as network administration, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and cloud services. Expertise in managing and troubleshooting Windows Server, macOS, Linux environments, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra, Intune, and Azure Virtual Desktop.
Network Security & Configuration: Extensive experience with configuring and maintaining firewalls (Fortinet, Ubiquiti UniFi), routers, and switches. Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices, with the ability to implement security policies and conduct security audits.
Automation & Scripting: Proficient in scripting and automating IT tasks using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
Client-Facing Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver technical presentations and complex solutions to both technical and non-technical clients. Comfortable engaging directly with clients to ensure satisfaction and address their needs.
ITIL Knowledge: Strong knowledge of ITIL best practices and how to apply them in a managed services environment for continuous service improvement.
Project Management: Ability to independently lead and execute technical projects, including migrations, implementations, and complex integrations, with minimal oversight.
Location: Candidates must reside on Long Island in New York (Nassau or Suffolk County). This is a hybrid role, combining remote work with the flexibility to travel for client site visits across Long Island and the Metro New York area as required.
Required Technical Skills:
Advanced expertise in Windows and macOS operating systems administration.
Network administration (Fortinet, Ubiquiti UniFi), including configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls.
Strong working knowledge of cloud services and virtualization, including Microsoft Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop, Intune, Microsoft Entra, and backup appliances like Axcient.
Proficient in IT service management and ticketing systems.
Expertise in cybersecurity protocols, policies, and risk management.
Experience in scripting/automation using PowerShell, Python, etc.
Special Skills:
Ability to provide technical training and mentoring to junior staff.
